Hey there, 26 year old TV junkie, podcaster, and aspiring screenwriter here. The 100 Podcast 
I just listened to your last podcast and as an archaeology major, who has studied both Roman and Egyptian history and mythology, I have a little correction: Rome had god kings, the emperors where worshipped as gods, there are temples for them and all that came with it. You can definitely compare the emperor cult in Rome to the Egyptian Pharaoh cult (I can’t say anything about China, since I don’t know enough about the subject). Actually, I would say it was heightened in Rome since the Pharaoh was usually seen as a vessel for a god, not necessarily as a god himself.
In Rome it started out with the emperors claiming to be descendants of gods, but they were quickly turned into actual gods in their mythology.
I hope you don’t mind the correction, but my inner history nerd kind of needed to get that out. 😉 Maybe it will help with future analysis.
